Baton Rouge-Based Health System Simplifies Access to Both In-Person and Virtual Care Online
Boston, MA – July 22, 2020 – Kyruus, the leader in provider search and scheduling solutions for health systems, today announced that Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS), one of the largest health systems in Louisiana, is now connecting consumers to care online through the Kyruus ProviderMatch® platform. FMOLHS has launched both a new find-a-provider experience and online appointment booking with Kyruus as part of its efforts to improve patient-provider matching and patient access.FMOLHS provides care to patients across Louisiana and Mississippi through a large network of provider practices and hospitals. Serving more than half of the Louisiana population, the non-profit, Catholic health system has expanded considerably over the last few years and sought a system-wide view of its growing provider network. The need for a centralized and robust provider directory became all the more evident as FMOLHS looked to expand its digital presence and online offerings for consumers.
Utilizing the award-winning KyruusOne® data management platform and Kyruus’ proprietary clinical taxonomy, FMOLHS built detailed profiles for 3,400 providers, reflecting their unique areas of expertise detailed to the condition and procedure level. During this process, the team was able to leverage the continuously-updated taxonomy to capture COVID-19 and related terms accurately and efficiently on appropriate profiles, as well as build an informational COVID-19 profile to display in related search results.
“Across our organization, we share a deep commitment to delivering high quality care to the growing number of communities we serve,” said Dr. Stephen Hosea, Chief Medical Information Officer at FMOLHS. “Taking the initiative to build a more consolidated and comprehensive view of our providers and their specific areas of expertise was a foundational step as we sought to empower patients online in new ways.”
As FMOLHS elevated its digital presence, two key goals guided the way: making it easier for consumers to find the right providers and providing additional access for new and existing patients to see available appointments. The team chose Kyruus ProviderMatch® for Consumers to achieve both goals. The solution lets consumers initiate searches based on keywords, such as a condition or symptom, mapped to the new provider profiles. From there, they can filter matches further – including readily identifying providers with virtual offerings – and book both in-person and virtual visits online.
“FMOLHS has extended its engagement to new patient populations through a series of organizational expansions in recent years,” said Graham Gardner, MD, CEO of Kyruus. “Like many health systems, the FMOLHS team recognized that enhancing patient access required an enhanced provider data management platform as well as a modern consumer search experience. We’re honored to be enabling this work and helping FMOLHS augment both the patient and provider experience.”
FMOLHS launched ProviderMatch first in the Baton Rouge area and is continuing to implement the software across the system in the coming weeks.
