In 2017, we launched What’s the Fix? (#WTFix) because we believe that patient stories have the power to change healthcare. During the past few years, we’ve focused on highlighting people’s experiences in healthcare – payers, providers, government and others – the opportunity to learn from them and infuse that knowledge into their own work. Next week, on Aug, 11, we’ll offer up that chance again by hosting a virtual patient panel to tell it like it is on a variety of healthcare-related topics.
Over the years, we’ve featured that patient voice in a variety of ways. We’ve hosted two large conferences, free for all to attend in-person and online, dedicated completely to patient stories. We’ve held a hackathon with code school students, featured blogs and videos, sponsored patient attendance at industry events, hosted tweet chat discussions with great partners and we’ve hosted a number of patient panels at healthcare industry conferences.
As for our patient panels, they’ve previously been held in person at industry events across the country, primarily in conference rooms with no livestream option. These panels have been well received because many of the people attending these events don’t often have the chance to hear from patients, and we have been fortunate to have some seriously interesting and amazing people share their stories and opinions! It was great to get patient feedback directly in front of some of the people in healthcare that could make change based on what they heard. The downside was that the audiences were very limited. With COVID-19, we realized we had a great opportunity to bring a patient panel to an even wider audience, so that all those that wanted to hear directly from their end-users, patients, could do so.
We invite you to join us on Tuesday, August 11, as we host be a diverse group of patients to have a frank conversation about their experiences in healthcare – both past and current – with the goal of helping a wide variety of stakeholders understand the patient experience better and work toward making whatever improvements they can. The event is free and open to all. To learn more and register, please click here.
